This restaurant has started with a simple idea.
I always believed, food was a great vessel to tell stories. It can be stories about your life, stories about exciting experience you have gone through, or simply things you want people to know. In my case most stories have been connected to food in one way or another. When someone loves eating your food, it means a part of your story has brighten someone’s day.
Having these thoughts, back in 2016, I decided to open my kitchen for public, the Dapura Mia. My goal was to share stories about my Asian heritage and the local flavors that I grew up with. Materialize by a series of homemade dishes freshly served to your plate.
I never imagined: what used to be a small catering services grew immensely in 4 year. So much that I can now open my own restaurant with a perfect location just in front of the station and with lakeside view. This couldn't have been achieved without your support. I am thankful for everyone who supported the idea, who loved and promoted my dishes and those who are still here with Dapura Mia anticipating my stories of food and how the story of Dapura Mia evolves.
Since 11 of July 2020, the restaurant Dapura Mia is open for public serving our signature Asian dishes originating from different South-East Asian countries and further refined during my period of catering Asian food. Try our Indonesian roasted coffees, a number of Asian beers and occasional live music! Feel the traditional homey atmospheres with our Balinese decorations, as we take you away to the warm sunshine in the Asia's tropical country of your choice!
Our door is always open for you. Feel free to come and let's create your exciting stories together with us!
Xoxo Dapura Mia
Hi guys! Back again with another tasty food post. This time, I will be reviewing about one of Dapura Mia's in-house specialties that I know you are always excited for, which are the heavenly sumptuous spring rolls! 😍😍
Usually eaten as snacks, spring rolls are made from a very thin dough and filled with abundant amounts of vegetables, ground meats, rice vermicelli, or anything as you desired. They can be deep fried for extra crunchiness or steamed to make it softer.
Spring rolls have been existed for a very long time. It is believed that the origin of spring rolls comes from the eastern and western China before Tang Dynasty (618-907 A.D). In this period, people started to make wheat wrappers with fillings from fresh vegetables that have been harvested in the first spring crop. Why must it be wrapped? Because it is more convenient for people such as farmers and hunters to carry around the food, while doing their activities.
As its popularity increased, spring rolls were commonly served as spring gifts for people to give their families and relatives during Chinese Spring Festival. Since the shape of spring rolls resemblances a lot of gold bars, eating spring rolls during the spring festival is mandatory for those who seek prosperity and wealth.
There are many kinds of spring rolls in the culinary industry now. Besides the Chinese version of spring rolls, Thailand, and Vietnamese spring rolls are also well known for their variety of fillings, including prawns, mushrooms, shredded carrots and even crab meats. Each region and country in Asia has different preferences with the fillings for their own spring rolls.
Despite the uncertainty, every spring roll tastes amazing when paired with a perfect sauce. For spice lovers, a sweet and sour mango sauce will create an extra kick that keeps you energized. If you prefer something milder, sweet peanut sauce will help to neutralize the heavy taste that comes from the fillings.
In Dapura Mia, we made tasty spring rolls that leave people craving for more. Don't miss the chance to have the taste of our special product, complimented with variants of delicious dipping sauces. If you want to know more, please kindly drop us a message at the link below. See ya!
